Wal-Mart Gift to NW Campus

Wal-Mart Foundation Gifts $650,000 to the Northwest Campus

UAMS Northwest received $650,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation.  The
grant is for distance learning technology – improving the interactive
video equipment and technology resources in the computer labs,
classrooms, and conference rooms.  At a ceremony on December 16, 2010,
Chancellor Rahn, Dr. Peter Kohler, Vice Chancellor, UAMS Northwest, and
Dr. Stephanie Gardner, Dean, College of Pharmacy, accepted the gift from
Karen Parker, senior manager of the Wal-Mart Foundation while students
and faculty applauded.  

With the addition of 15 junior medical
students and 21 junior pharmacy students to the campus this fall, all
technology and upgrades will be in place by July 2011.  There are 10
medical students, 21 senior pharmacy students, 26 radiologic imaging
students, and 20 master
